Detroit journalist Anna Clark was inspired to chronicle Flint’s water tragedy in her new book.

During the podcast, they talk about the people who caused the crisis, the people who suffered from it, and the people who ultimately exposed it.

They also get into a common theme shared here on SaveMICity – the disinvestment in Michigan’s cities and the need to fix Michigan’s broken system for funding municipalities.

Instead of using the term “disinvestment” they use a different phrase – how cities are unmade. Flint is a perfect example of a city that was unmade through a series of actions or inaction over a long period of time. Flint is, by far, not alone in this phenomena.

It’s a great discussion that shows how the Flint water crisis really can happen or is happening in other variations in cities throughout Michigan.
