This issue of The Review – Municipal Finance

The March/April 2016 edition of the Review is dedicated to the issues surrounding our broken municipal finance system and the need for significant reform. Without a fresh look at our system, we are damned to a cycle of merely hanging on hoping to survive. Michigan need to embark on a mission to rethink our priorities and recognize the importance of communities. Cities drive the economic engine, and in 2016, talent attraction and retention are key to a strong economy. By investing in our communities we enable them to create the types of places will help drive a strong economy. It is our cities where the greatest economic develop potential lies. We must abandon our current practice of starving local government in Michigan of the resources they need to invest in critical infrastructure and service delivery.
