SaveMICity Capital Conference Video Now Online

At the League’s 2018 Capital Conference, League Deputy Executive Director & COO Tony Minghine gave the audience an Amazon wake-up call. He laid out the reasons that Detroit and Grand Rapids had virtually no chance of attracting the online mega-store’s second headquarters to our state.

Not surprisingly, they are the same reasons that prompted the League to launch the SaveMICity initiative two years ago – state disinvestment in our communities. Appropriate investment would enable cities to provide adequate basic services as well as the quality of life amenities that appeal to businesses and a talented workforce. Without that investment, Michigan will continue to lag behind every other state in the nation.
